Microsoft Office Visual Transformation: New Color and Font Design in Focus

The replacement of Calibri, an iconic and widely used font, marks a significant change in the visual identity of documents produced by millions of people around the world.

Regarding the color palette, one of the most visible changes is the removal of yellow, replaced by dark green. Additionally, one of the lighter blue tones has been swapped for a dark teal tone. These modifications aim to improve the contrasts between shapes and lines present in Office documents, making viewing and interpretation more effective.

Jess Kwok, product manager for Microsoft 365 apps, highlights that the changes aren't just limited to the font and color palette. The default style of Word and Outlook is also undergoing a revamp, with the aim of making documents more readable, professional and easier to navigate.

Testing of these changes began in July with Microsoft 365 Insiders. Now, the company announces that these updates will be available to all users starting in September.
